- The flower silhouettes are made by pressing charcoal through a hand painted silk screen that P. Colby designed and painted. The charcoal rests finely on the gold leaf, and he seals each layer before applying the next one. Some of the faintest flowers are only a single layer, while others may have as many as five or six. The background garden is always growing and evolving. This allows P. Colby to continually be surprised by the composition and keeps him present in the process.
