  • "There is an ecstasy that marks the summit of life and beyond which life cannot rise. Such a paradox of living this ecstasy comes when one is most alive and comes as a complete forgetfulness that one is alive."
    -Jack London

There is so much beauty in the world. We are very lucky to be able to comprehend it. Even though the human experience is a paradox of peaks and valleys, my work reminds us that the human spirit is strong and resilient. And if you can take a moment to ponder the gift of life, you will see the beauty of existence.

It find birds to be a perfect metaphor for this paradox. They are colorful and graceful. Yet they are also working to survive, grow and prosper. They’re resiliency reminds us to focus, they’re beauty reminds us to breathe, and they’re presence reminds us how lucky we are to be part of this earth.

The paintings themselves are a paradox. The compositions are entirely made up without the use of photography. At times they feel effortless to make, other times the form is a struggle to work out. The beauty is in the creative process. These paintings remind me everyday to stop, breathe and focus on what’s most important. To rise above the mundane and create something magical. Just like the birds they are a beacon of the human experience and exist in a beautiful world.
